ALIA Schools Online Forum: 29 August – 7 September 2012National Standards for Teacher Librarians
The second online forum for 2012 focused on how teacher librarians can demonstrate that they are meeting the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) National Professional Standards for Teachers.
Each weekday, for the duration of the online forum, we focused on a standard (specifically a sub-standard) covering the career stages of proficient, highly accomplished and lead teacher librarians. Participants were invited to share ideas and examples of their practice that exemplify the National Professional Standards for Teachers in our wiki discussion.
The discussion forum is now closed. You can still read the contributions to the forum discussion by clicking the link below.

The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) has created the National Professional Standards for Teachers and devised a project called “Illustrations of Practice” which demonstrate a range of teacher practices across the different career stages (graduate, proficient, highly accomplished and lead). The illustrations have been set in a variety of contexts to help teachers evaluate their own practices in order to meet the National Professional Standards for Teachers.

If you would like further information about the “Illustrations of Practice” project, please refer to the AITSL website http://www.teacherstandards.aitsl.edu.au/Illustrations and watch the following video:
