The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority [ACARA] has introduced a key dimension of the Australian Curriculum. This key dimension is known as the general capabilities. The general capabilites encompass the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that, together with curriculum content, will assist students to live and work successfully in the 21st century. The Australian Curriculum has seven general capabilities:
  • literacy
  • numeracy
  • information and communication technology (ICT) capability
  • critical and creative thinking
  • personal and social capability
  • ethical behaviour
  • intercultural understanding
